If we talk about the type of domestic shipping in America, it can be categorized into the two given categories:

1. Interstate transfer by sea to the mainland and by road on the interstate.
2. Island-to-island transfer by ships

Let us discuss each of them in detail. 

Shipping from Hawaii is all done via ocean freight, which is called an interstate vehicle transfer.

CARGO CONTAINER: When available, the vehicles are loaded into a cargo container, which is later loaded onto the cargo ship to make its way across the ocean to land in California. From there, a tow truck will take the vehicle the rest of the way on land to its final destination.

RORO Roll on Roll off:  In some circumstances, the vehicles are either too large or containerized shipping is unavailable on a particular Hawaiian Island. The vehicles will be shipped via RORO.  Depending on whether the cars are classified as run-and-drive or non-runners, they will be prepared for shipping accordingly.  Fluids will be drained, floor padding will be laid down, and the cars will be placed on the ship to make it to California.
